Kinshapes & Inter-City Services (Two Berkeley based organizations) are joining effort to introduce Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality to youth in the East Bay.
As Virtual reality and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) are emerging as the most effective ways to interact and learn. Kinshapes, a Berkeley based multi-dimensional digital media lab and incubator and Inter-City Services (ICS) are using the technology of VR and AR to train youth on coding, programming, 3D modeling, animation, storytelling and, problem solving.
With their new project, entitled “Making Reading Come Alive” Kinshapes and ICS are leveraging the VR and AR technologies to address illiteracy and digital divide. The final objective of this project is to make reading and learning exciting for children by actively engaging them.
To further engage with the community and familiarize youth, specifically from inner city, with these new technologies, both organizations have decided to invite the public in.
On Saturday March 24th, from 10:30AM to 2:30PM Kinshapes-ICS are launching their new series of events including workshops and immersive VR experience: coding, programming, 3D modeling, animation, storytelling, entrepreneurship and, problem solving.
The workshops are held on Saturdays mornings from at Kinshapes which is located at 3259 Adeline, Berkeley CA, 94703. The workshops are free of charge (voluntary donations are accepted and Tax deductible). www.kinshapes.com.
